    A short draw was sufficient for Levon Aronian to ensure the 2012 title. Fabiano Caruana won again today, as did Gata Kamsky. In the lower groups, both Pentala Harikrishna and Maxim Turov started strongly and mantained their good form until the end to win their respective groups.

    After a win over Boris Gelfand, the leader Levon Aronian has restored his one point lead, going into the last round. In equal second are Magnus Carlsen and Teimour Radjabov. In Group B, Pentala Harikrishna has a one-point margin over Alexander Motylev and Erwin L'Ami. Group C is still a two-horse race, with Hans Tikkanen and Maxim Turov neck-and-neck on 9.5/12.

    Losses by Levon Aronian and Vassily Ivanchuk, along with wins by Magnus Carlsen and Teimour Radjabov, have left the 2012 title wide open, with just two rounds to play. The B-Group leader Pentala Harikrishna also lost on a day of shocks, and in Group C Hans Tikkanen has again caught Maxim Turov.

    On a day when there were four Black wins, Levon Aronian defeated Anish Giri and moved further ahead of Magnus Carlsen. In second place is now Vassily Ivanchuk, after his win over bottom-placed David Navara. Harikrishna has led group B from the beginning, and Maxim Turov has regained the top spot in Group C after Hans Tikkanen's shock loss.

    Levon Aronian's victory over Fabiano Caruana, and Magnus Carlsen's loss with White to Sergey Karjakin, has left the Armenian a full point ahead, with only four rounds to go. The leaders in Groups B and C all won.

    In the eighth round there were six draws, plus a win by Vugar Gashimov over Anish Giri in an exciting Sicilian Najdorf. The leader board thus remains essentially unchanged. In Group B, Alexander Motylev has cut Pentala Harikrishna's lead to half-a-point, while in Group C Hans Tikkanen has finally caught Maxim Turov, and now shares the lead.

Gata Kamsky won his first game, and Sergey Karjakin has continued his series of decisive results, this time with a win. Pentala Harikrishna and Maxim Turov are the leaders of groups B and C respectively.

Other winners today were Hikaru Nakamura, Teimour Radjabov and the youngest participant in Group-A Anish Giri. Pentala Harikrishna won again and Maxim Turov drew with his closest rival and both maintain their respective leads.
