Alexei Shirov was in his element as he sacrificed heavily to create attacking chances against Morozevich's king. The game could have gone either way, but eventually burnt out to a draw. An incredible fight! Magnus Carlsen completed the double over Yannick Pelletier and now has a clear lead.

In a tense struggle Carlsen had the bishop pair which enabled him to create some pressure and eventually he found a way to pick off a pawn.

After a quiet opening, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave launched his pieces at Caruana's king. At the end, with two pawns and pressure for a piece, Vachier-Lagrave had interesting compensation but, seeing nothing clear, opted to take a repetition.
