In a tense struggle Carlsen had the bishop pair which enabled him to create some pressure and eventually he found a way to pick off a pawn.
After a quiet opening, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave launched his pieces at Caruana's king. At the end, with two pawns and pressure for a piece, Vachier-Lagrave had interesting compensation but, seeing nothing clear, opted to take a repetition.
