Gelfand saves his skin

Boris Gelfand hangs on (official site)
Boris Gelfand's opening went wrong very quickly and Alexander Grischuk emerged from the complications with two pieces for a rook. The Israeli GM kept his position alive with some imaginative defensive play, but Grischuk must have been close to a win at some point.

After a couple of draws, the match is still level, but so far Boris Gelfand has struggled to keep himself in business.

Name World rank Country Elo 1 2 3 4 5 6 Score so far
Alexander Grischuk 12 AZE 2747 ½ ½         1
Boris Gelfand 16 ISR 2733 ½ ½         1

As for prizes, there will be 90.000 € for each finalist, plus of course the winner gets the right to play Viswanathan Anand for the world crown.
